Let us Be Real

Our Approach

We believe that transparency is the key to healing. Scripture shows us that it is in the revealing (Job 13:23), the confession (1 John 1:9), and the exposing (Ephesians 5:11) that all darkness and results of darkness can be brought to light and restored (2 Corinthians 5:17-23, 1 John 5:1-7). We also believe that Scripture shows us that we are to walk in community with each other rather than in isolation. We want young women to feel safe in our community, to share the hard things they are wrestling with, and grow from our resources. Also, we hope leaders find our resources and events helpful in equipping them to handle the hard topics that will come up as they disciple young women within their church communities.

This is a truly non-denominational ministry. Although our personal doctrinal beliefs are available here, we want to be clear. No one will force the acceptance of the gifts of the Spirit, such as speaking in tongues, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, or the casting out of demons, or teaching on these doctrinal aspects. That being said, we aren't AFRAID to be asked questions about them or to share teachings or resources of varying views. (Rest assured, we are not afraid of any demons, should they come around.)

Beliefs About
the Church and Discipleship

We believe in the power of the local church. The Real Movement does not replace the local church, but supports the local church. (1 Corinthians 12:12-31, Romans 12:4-5, Ephesians 4:11-16, Colossians 1:18, Romans 12:10-13, Romans 15:5-7)

We believe that the church should be the safest place for any woman to go to receive the healing and discipleship that they need. (1 Peter 5:5, Proverbs 4:5, James 5:16, Hebrews 3:13, Hebrews 10:24-25)

We believe that all believers who are submitted to the work of the Spirit should bear the fruit of the Spirit in how they treat their neighbors AND themselves.(Galatians 5:22-25, Romans 8:14, 2 Corinthians 3:17-18, 2 Corinthians 5:17, John 15:1-17, Romans 12:1-2)

We believe discipleship should lead others to look, live, and love like Jesus. Any other form of discipleship is counterfeit. (Titus 2:1-8, 1 Corinthians 11:1, John 15, John 8:31, Luke 9:23, Mark 8:34, Proverbs 27:17, Ephesians 3-5)

We believe living out the greatest commandments in Scripture looks like loving people where they are, equipping them with tools to help them get where they want to go, and celebrating them in the growth as they are conformed into the image of Christ. (John 13:34-35, Matthew 28:19-20, Matthew 22:37-39, Mark 12:30-31, Luke 10:27, Ephesians 4:11-12, 2 Peter 3:18, Colossians 2:6-7)

Beliefs about the Body

We believe that our minds belong to the Lord and our thoughts should line up with the truth found in Scripture. (2 Corinthians 2:5, Romans 12:2, Philippians 4:8-9, Romans 8:6)

We believe that purity is a matter of the heart and not just adhering to a set of rules.

We believe that our bodies are a temple of the Lord and that temple deserves respect and honor. We are to respect our own bodies and the bodies of our neighbors. Your body also should be respected by your neighbor. (2 Timothy 2:22, Matthew 5:8, Psalm 51:10)

We believe that sexual immorality is wrong and not in God's design for humanity. This includes pre-marital sex, masturbation, pornography, graphic novels, homosexuality, and lust. (1 Corinthians 6:18, and 9-10, Hebrews 13:4, Ephesians 5:3, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, Galatians 5:19)

We believe that every aspect of our bodies should be submitted to the work and guidance of the Holy Spirit, not social media or legalism. All women, regardless of physical appearance, are loved by the Creator and our physicality does not determine how much God loves us. (Psalm 139:14, Colossians 3:1-3, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

We believe that all sins to the body and against the body are 100% covered by the blood of Jesus and that restoration and deliverance can be found through discipleship, community, prayer, study of the word, and professional counseling. (1 Corinthians 6:11, Romans 8:10-11, 1 John 1:19, James 5:16, Hebrews 10:24-25, Psalm 51:10)

Beliefs about Identity and the Roles of Women

We believe that all women are made in the image of God and that is precisley the root and truth of our identity. (Genesis 1:27, Galatians 3:26-29)

We believe that our roles, gifts and callings are defined by Scripture, not the traditions of man. (1 Corinthians 12:4-7, Romans 12:4-8, Proverbs 16:9, 1 Corinthians 1:26-31)

We also believe in mutual submission and being a servant to the body of Christ, willingly serving and honoring the leaders we are serving under. (Ephesians 5:15-21, Romans 12:9-10, Hebrews 13:17)

We believe that ALL women are capable of reading, studying and understanding Scripture and the doctrines of the faith. (2 Timothy 2:15, Romans 15:4, Colossians 3:16, 2 Timothy 3:16, John 8:31-32)
